When Mackenzie Garza reached out to Dream Dresses by P.M.N., she wasn't looking for a gown. She was looking for a veil - and she had been searching for a while.
What she found on the website stopped her. The embroidery. The birds. The way color moved through the tulle. She knew, almost immediately, that this was the studio that could bring what she had been imagining to life.
She Came with a Vision and the Words to Describe It
Kenzie's inquiry was detailed, personal, and full of heart. She was planning an orchid-themed wedding for November 8, 2025, and she had a clear picture in her mind: a veil where the design didn't simply edge the hem, but climbed - working its way from the bottom all the way up toward the top, filling the tulle with life and movement.
Her reference was the Renea by Rue de Seine - not for its exact embroidery, but for that quality of upward flow. She loved the hummingbirds she had seen on a handmade veil elsewhere. She also loved the birds that appeared throughout Dream Dresses' own collection. Could there be a blend? And over everything - orchids, her favorite flower, the symbol of the entire day.
She apologized for the length of her message. She didn't need to.

Designing Something That Had Never Been Made
Designer Phuong confirmed that yes - this was something the studio could do. Custom embroidery, a composition that rises through the veil, hummingbirds woven together with the house's signature bird motifs, and orchids throughout.
Three original black-and-white sketches were drawn up and presented to Kenzie. Each one interpreted her brief differently, giving her real choices rather than a single direction to approve or decline.
She chose Option 1 - and then added one more detail: red cardinals, woven into the design alongside the hummingbirds and blooms.
The veil that was taking shape was entirely hers. Nothing like it existed anywhere else.
A Process Built on Clarity
Phuong found Kenzie a genuine pleasure to work with - clear about what she wanted, warm in her communication, and easy to collaborate with from beginning to end.
When a bride knows her own vision and can articulate it with that kind of care, the whole process flows.
November Light, and the Message That Followed
After the wedding, Kenzie sent photographs.
With them came a message that said everything: "Just wanted to share pics of my veil from my wedding!! You did such an amazing job!!"
The veil - with its hummingbirds and red cardinals and orchids climbing toward the crown - had made it to the day it was designed for.
What Kenzie's Story Shows
A reference is a starting point, not a limitation. Kenzie came with an image she loved and used it to communicate a feeling - the upward flow, the density of design, the sense of something alive. The studio took that feeling and built something original from it.
The most personal details are worth including. The red cardinals were added almost as an afterthought. They became part of what made the veil irreplaceable.
Custom does not mean complicated. When communication is clear and the brief is honest, the process can be remarkably smooth - even for something that has never been made before.
