WEDDING DRESS RULES YOU DON'T NEED TO FOLLOW

When it comes to deciding your wedding dress, there are a plethora of options out there concerning the dress, the design, the silhouette, and the material. A lot of pressure is placed on brides to have the exact details already decided before attending any wedding dress fittings. There is also the influence of current trends and wedding dress 'rules' that float around the bridal fashion scene that can impact your decision. We are here to tell you that you shouldn't feel obliged to follow any rules when choosing your wedding dress; there are no rules; it is your special day! Today, we will unpack some wedding dress rules you don't need to follow.

Avoiding color

We believe this is a wedding dress rule you don't need to follow! Most brides, particularly in the West, often tend to shy away from wearing color on their big day. Brides feel obliged to be the one in white who walks down the aisle, but, realistically, not everyone dreams of wearing this color! Some people prefer wearing a pop of color to stand out or believe a different shade compliments their skin tone more. Regardless of why you may be leaning towards a non-traditional gown, we think every bride should feel like they have the option.

Sticking to conventions

Another rule we believe brides can break is sticking to traditional wedding dress silhouettes. Conventionally, brides would wear a white floor-length gown with a blusher-style veil. If this is your style, then go for it! However, we know, from personal experience, not every bride wants to opt for a traditional wedding dress. Some brides feel more comfortable in a short, tea-length gown than a floor-length one; others want to style up their look with a bridal cape or detachable overskirt instead of a veil. We are here to tell you the possibilities are endless when it comes to creating your wedding look!

No personalization

Another rule that should go totally out the window is that wedding dresses shouldn't have any personalization. Personalized touches can vary from embellishments, intricate detailing, accessories and detachable add-ons, and many more. If you opt for a custom-made wedding dress, you can add as many personalized touches as you like! After all, this is your big day; you deserve to wear what you feel your most confident and best self in. We believe custom is the way to go when choosing your dream dress, and here at Dream Dresses by P.M.N, we specialize in this service. We want you to know you make the rules.
